Busy Times are Here with the Trump Executive Order in Place
During President Trump’s first days in office he has already made good on a promise to cut red tape by eliminating unnecessary regulations. Federal agency workers all over the country have felt the urgency of this and have been working non stopped. The organization right in the middle of this has been the FAA, where a complete overhaul could very well be in order. The stringent review of the Federal Aviation Regulations is aimed at fine tuning, possibly rewriting and even eliminating current rules that have been in place for years and years. Once in place these new rules and regulations are aimed at benefiting pilots and aircraft operators.
For example BasicMed third-class medical reform, the FAA is about to introduce a part 23 rewrite and also those who deal with operational credit mostly used in infrared enhanced-vision systems. What we don’t know yet is if the Part 23 or BasicMed rewrite will lead to delays brought on by President Trump’s executive order. The temporary freeze that’s been put on regulations may possibly lead to delays and cause the
Federal Aviation Association to have its hands full trying to figure out which regulations to adhere by while making way for new ones. Traditionally the FAA has used an out with the old and in with the new motto on FAA regulatory issues.
Many of these cases turn out to have no regard for previous regulations whatsoever. There are many outdated regulations out there currently. Hopefully the FAA will find a way to reduce cost and provide much less bureaucracy. Congress has ordered the rewrite of BasicMed and Part 23, so these are two on a case by case basis. The goal now of the Department of Transportation and FAA is the to begin to determine how to proceed with these mandated reforms all the while satisfying the requirements most recently set by the President’s recent executive order.
