Lufthansa Technik Foresees New Market in the Middle East

Lufthansa Technik has seen a growing market in the Middle East for new and matured widebody engines. Currently Lufthansa does not have not have any engine capabilities in the Middle Eastern region. Owning a facility in Dubai but lacks engine repair resources with its focus in material repair and component supply.

With new aircraft implementation in the middle eastern market Lufthansa has been able to see what kind of aircrafts will require services in years to come. Some of the larger name aircraft companies such as Rolls Royce and Airbus have been able to have their aircrafts in these parts of the world therefore requiring service. Lufthansa has the capability to service models such as Trent XWB for the Airbus A350 and A380 engine options the GP7200 and the Trent 900.

Head of Business Development, Finance and Controlling, Marc Schwabe rest assures that they will still be fully capable of being able to service the Middle Eastern regions older type engines and aircraft despite the change in the market. According to Schwabe older wide-bodied aircrafts like the GE90 and the Rolls-Royce Trent 700 are still a current market in local regions.

Lufthansa Technik has an extensive background in engine repairs that are conducted in their other facilities near their head quarters in Germany. Having overhaul shops just shy of Frankfurt in places such as Hamburg and Alzey. Also, Lufthansa provides what is known as the Mobile Engine Services conducting repairs on wing or on site depending on task.

Preparing for the more modern market Lufthansa has been able to acquire licenses to be able to service LEAP engines a more efficient, high tech way to travel.
